Snap is a Discord bot and website run by an individual in the United Kingdom. This page explains what Snap stores, why, and how to get it removed. You can contact us at the developer, whose name is shown on the bot's Discord profile.
What Snap stores
- About a server: its Discord ID, name and icon link, the channels and roles chosen in
/snap setup, the moderator roles and any blocked words. - About a member, per server: Discord user ID, display name, avatar link, bio, verified tick, post, follower and following counts, and who they follow.
- What members post: screenshots, captions, hashtags and tagged users, comments, likes, stories, and reports they file. Screenshots are re-saved as WebP and all embedded metadata, including location, is removed.
- Moderation records: which moderator or admin changed a setting, removed a post or handled a report, kept for 180 days.
- Technical logs: which commands were used and any errors, with Discord IDs, so problems can be fixed. These are rotated automatically by the server. The web server keeps standard access logs with the last part of each IP address removed.
Snap does not read ordinary messages in your server. It only sees the commands and button presses that are sent to it.
Why
To run the features you asked for: showing a feed, counting likes, announcing the weekly Top Snap, handling reports and keeping spam down. Snap does not sell data, show ads, build advertising profiles or use analytics or tracking cookies.
The public gallery
If a server administrator turns on the public gallery, that server's posts, captions, comments, display names and avatars can be seen by anyone with the link. Images are stored at long random addresses, so they cannot be guessed, but anyone who has an address can open it. Ask your server's administrators whether the gallery is on. Galleries ask search engines not to index them.
How long it is kept
- Posts, comments and profiles stay until the author or a moderator deletes them, or the member uses
/snap forgetme. - Stories are deleted after 24 hours.
- When a post is removed its text and image are deleted straight away. A bare record with no text or image is kept for two days to enforce posting limits.
- If Snap is removed from a server, everything held for that server is deleted after 30 days.
- Resolved reports are deleted after 90 days.
Your choices
Run /snap forgetme in a server to erase your posts, stories, comments, likes, follows and profile there. Use /snap delete or right click a snap and choose Apps, Delete snap to remove a single post. To ask about anything else, or to ask for a copy of your data, contact us using the details above. Under UK data protection law you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Where it lives
Snap runs on a rented server. DNS and, if enabled, traffic proxying are provided by Cloudflare. Member avatars shown on the public gallery are loaded directly from Discord's servers, so Discord sees those requests. Discord itself handles your account, your messages and the files you upload to it; see Discord's own privacy policy for that.
Age
Snap is only available through Discord, which requires users to be at least 13 (or older where local law says so). It is not aimed at younger children.
